Photography Art in Activism

Big Brothers and Big Sisters, TFIU, and The Change Lab from the University of Texas A&M conducted the first Art and Activism workshop for Galveston student advocates and activists. The students studied the history of photography as a tool for societal change, as well as technical instruction from local photographer, Roxanne Glover. Each student received a film camera and was free to shoot whatever they wanted, revolving around a social justice issue they cared about. Each student also recorded a story to go along with their exhibit photos. Below is the outcome of the student's hard work and creativity!
